Club Racing
The racing circuits close to Brisbane are Queensland Raceway, Ipswich and Morgan Park, Warwick. There is an annual event at Leyburn for the Leyburn Historic Sprints. Most club drivers cut their teeth at Lakeside International Raceway which has since been shut down but see below for exciting news. Have a look at our Club Racing Photos.
Queensland Raceway
Queensland Raceway has been designed after exhaustive and ongoing consultations with Australia's greatest motorsport heroes. Consideration to speed, safety and passing possibilities as well as spectator viewing have been combined to provide what is to be a benchmark for circuit design into the next century.

Lakeside International Raceway
The Lakeside Motorsport Complex includes the famous Lakeside International Raceway and Roadcraft driver training facility. Located between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane, the circuit sits on the banks of Lake Kurwongbah in Queensland. For decades, the circuit was second only to Bathurst as Australia's fastest race track.
Considered a true driver's circuit, Lakeside International Raceway runs in a clockwise direction and the difficulty of its corners are compounded by dramatic changes in elevation. Furthermore, all corners share a common radius, which allows competitors to develop a rhythm, however, concentration cannot be allowed to lapse as all corners feature a change from positive to negative camber mid-corner.
The corners at Lakeside have become infamous within the motor racing ranks. Tarmac turns such as the Kink, the Karrousel, the Bus Stop and the Eastern Loop have all claimed their fair share competitors, but none more so than Hungry Corner. It's a free flowing circuit that undulates across rolling green hills, but don't be deceived by the scenery, it's only for the brave as run-off area is at a premium.

World First for Lakeside Raceway
From: Lakeside Motor Racing Enthusiasts, Inc. (www.lakesideraceway.com)
Issue Date: 1 May, 2003
Topic: Lakeside International Raceway
Australian motor racing circuit, Lakeside International Raceway has become the
first motor racing facility in the world to be granted full permanent heritage
listing.
Located just north of Brisbane and owned by the Pine Rivers Shire Council (rayb@prsc.qld.gov.au),
the Queensland Heritage Council (www.epa.qld.gov.au)
voted to preserve the cultural heritage of the 42 year old site on 29 April,
2003.
President of the Lakeside Motor Racing Enthusiasts, Inc., Ian Milton, said this
about the verdict:
"We certainly view this as positive and it's encouraging to see that people
outside the motor racing fraternity can understand the historical importance
and cultural value of Lakeside to the community beyond the [Pine Rivers] Shire."
"Now that we have a clear direction, we're looking forward to working with
the Pine Rivers Shire Council to return motor racing to Lakeside and develop
the facility so it can realize its full potential, like the Bathurst City Council."
Former Managing Director of the Lakeside complex, Mr. Geoff Sakzewski had this
to say:
"I've always supported the Heritage Listing on the basis that it was supported
by the community. Heritage Listing is a victory for motorsport, but more than
that, it's vindication for the all the people, who over the generations, have
volunteered their blood, sweat and tears to create one of the world's best motor
racing circuits."
GOAL
LMRE’s goal is to re-instate motor racing at Lakeside International Raceway
as soon as possible and assist whichever body will best achieve that outcome.
