This year, 2018, is the 60th anniversary of the Austin Healey Sprite, and the Sprite Car Club of Queensland (SCCQ) is
organising an event to celebrate this.
It is being based along the lines of the Targa Florio, a road event formerly held on mountainous public roads in Sicily, and
with a theme of motor sport history and knowledge.
The Targa Tibrogargan will not be a speed event, or a competitive event. It is a social event on public roads to comply
with legislation. It will include observation and navigation components, with road rules and driving behaviour being strictly
enforced, and will conclude with a birthday ceremony for the Sprite.

The Targa Tibrogargan is being organised by the SCCQ, as a Club Social (Non-Competitive) Event with a CAMS Social
Permit No: 418/0807/02 / Event ID: EV111027. CAMS Public Liability Insurance is automatically included for CAMS clubs
The Event Organiser under this Permit is Michael Dwyer for the SCCQ.
There will be 2 starting points for the event:
4.1 Stage 1 (South) for Brisbane / Gold Coast entrants, starting at Mt Cootha Rd, on the road side parking before and on
the same side as the Botanical Gardens entrance. The nominal start time is 9.00 AM. There is no need to all arrive at
9.00, there will be staggered starting as entrants arrive. Stage length is about 115 kms.
4.2 The other is Stage 1 (North) for Sunshine Coast entrants. It will start at the Mooloolah Valley Country Club. The
nominal start time will be 10.00 AM with staggered starting. Breakfast will be available from 8.00 AM for those who wish
to partake. Stage length is about 65 kms.
These will be similar in format, and finish at the start of Stage 2.
Stage 2 will be a circuit around Maleny and the Glasshouse Mountains area. The route is being held on the roads
originally planned as a motorcycle TT race in 2016. Stage length is about 50 kms.
The start and end points are planned for the grounds / club house of the Blackall Range Horseless Carriage Club at
Maleny area, who will provide catering for lunch.
Entries will be accepted from:
– Austin Healey Sprite owners / entrants
– members of other British sports car clubs, with vehicles of a type that had been a competitor in an original Targa Florio
– members of British sports car clubs, in other cars
– vehicles of other types that had been a competitor in an original Targa Florio It is not necessary to be a member of a CAMS affiliated club, nor is a CAMS competition licence required.
Entries are open now. The entry form is attached, and can be completed and emailed back to Michael Dwyer
(firstname.lastname@example.org). Entries will be accepted on the day but it is requested to email them back beforehand, by Mon
2 July 2018 so road books can be printed, and adequate catering ordered.
There will not be any awards, monetary prize or similar, and points and results will not be awarded, these being a
condition of the CAMS permit. An Event Completion Certificate may be given to each entrant.
There is no entry fee. Brisbane starters will traverse a tunnel and the fee will be individually responsible. Sponsors have
been approached, and if successful, there will be raffle prizes at the end.
7. Observation / navigation details.
A car should have a driver and a co-driver / navigator.
Observation. Questions will be asked along the route. It may be necessary to get out of the car to obtain some answers.
Navigation. Distances will be shown in kilometres in homage to the TF route, and miles in consideration for older

Service points and rest stops are included in the navigation instructions.
All roads are bitumen, in very good condition. No motorway road works are expected.
8. Wet weather.
In the event of force majeure, the event may be cancelled or postponed.
